Hello, and welcome to Girl Scouting in Service Unit 40, which serves the Morgan Hill and San Martin area. Our Service Unit is a member of the Girl Scouts of Santa Clara County Council. Our council is one of over 300 councils all over the country that make up the National Girl Scouts organization (GS USA).
The volunteers in our Service Unit are a very dynamic, helpful and energetic group. We host several local events every year – from a Halloween Party Celebration for younger girls to weekend retreats for older girls. In addition to various community-wide events, we also have an annual Fall Camporee, Father/Daughter Square Dance, Mother/Daughter Box Lunch Social, Spring Camporee, and Funshine Day Camp.
Service is also a big part of our culture. Every year we adopt a project that focuses on providing assistance to those in need within our community. Some of our recent projects have included conducting flag ceremonies, assisting with luminaries at the Relay for Life walk-a-thon, food drives, and various other projects for local family shelters.
It is only with the assistance of our dedicated volunteers that we are able to provide these fantastic programs to the girls in our community. I truly believe that our volunteers not only help shape the future leaders but also make a difference in the lives of the people they touch.
